Prior to joining CenterPeak in 2024, Jeffrey served as the Global Practice Leader of Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Law Firm Practice Group for over a decade, and was the Founder and Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office since its inception in 2003 before forming his own firm in 2023.
Jeffrey is also one of the legal industry’s thought leaders on partner compensation. He is regularly quoted by leading publications such as The American Lawyer, The Wall Street Journal, Law 360, and Bloomberg Law. His knowledge of firms’ compensation systems and his experience negotiating compensation for partners is invaluable to his clients.
Jeffrey began his legal career as a corporate and finance associate with Kaye Scholer in New York in 1989. In 1991, he joined the Washington, D.C. office of Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells) and served as a corporate and securities partner from 1998 to 2003. During 1994 to 1995, Jeffrey resided in Tokyo, Japan, where he handled international corporate transactions with Mori Sogo Law Offices (now Mori Hamada & Matsumoto), one of Japan’s leading international firms.
Jeffrey received his B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University in 1986. He received his J.D. from William & Mary Law School in 1989, where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the William & Mary Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He served as a Trustee of the William & Mary Law School Foundation from 2013 to 2022.
Jeffrey resides in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia with his wife, Maribeth, who is a native Alexandrian and a graduate of the University of Virginia and William & Mary Law School. They have two adult children who live in Palo Alto and Boston.
